  1. The Tuesday Afternoon bookclub (who meet at Footcray library) loved David Malouf's 'Ransom' last month: It re-enters the world of the Iliad, recounting the story of Achilles, Patroclus and Hector, and Priam's journey to the Greek camp... The Bookclub members said: You were completely emersed in the era The prose was simple, the language beautiful and a pleasure to read It had me re-reading sections to make sure I had not missed a moment.... 2. I am reading Michael Connelly's latest novel, The Fifth Witness. So far it's lived up to Connelly's reputation for writing a good, fast-paced story with all the twists and turns we have come to expect. The city of L.A. is a large character in all his stories, and the reader gets a good feel for the city and culture.
